Day Thirteen – 6th February 2017


This morning I discovered that croissants contain sugar!! But only after I’d eaten one. It tasted really sweet to me, which is unusual. It was one of the freshly baked all butter croissants from Sainsburys. Whoops!

Having prepared nothing for lunch today, I spent about 30 minutes inspecting the labels of all the sandwiches, wraps, and salads in Waitrose. Every single one contained sugar. Salads! I ended up buying all the ingredients separately and making my own sandwich.

Wholemeal pitta bread
Grated medium cheddar
Cherry tomatoes on the vine
Organic houmous

Slice across one layer of the top of the pitta. Toast. Stuff with the ingredients.


The boyfriend made a delicious cous cous this evening.

2 x yellow peppers
2 x large round tomatoes
A few slices of chorizo to flavour the onions
Cubes of steak (enough for two)
100g x cous cous
5g x butter
140ml x boiling water
Splash of avocado oil
2 x cloves of garlic

Slice the peppers, tomatoes, chorizo, steak, and garlic. Heat the avocado oil in a large frying pan. Fry the garlic, onions, and chorizo. Add the steak and cook until brown on the outside (I think it’s called searing). Add the tomatoes and lower the heat. In the meantime, add the cous cous, butter and boiling water to a saucepan. Stir and cover for 4-5 minutes. Check the packet because I nearly missed the covering for 4-5 minutes bit and it was my only responsibility in the cooking of dinner – whoops. Put the saucepan on a low heat for 1-2 minutes. Add the cous cous to the frying pan and mix together. Serve!
