Here is a list of other products/methods I use day to day to stay healthy:
Neal’s Yard Remedies – I absolutely love this brand. It’s organic and natural, and best of all it actually works. I use almost all NYR products in my morning and evening beauty regimes. I use the Frankincense Hydrating Cream in the morning before applying my makeup, and the Frankincense Intense Cream in the evening after removing my makeup. I also use the Wild Rose Beauty Balm once a week for a more thorough moisturising. Disclosure: I do get a commission if you buy through my website. I am technically a NYR consultant, however, I would not have signed up if I didn’t use the products myself since I’m a rubbish salesperson.
Bare Minerals – I use Bare Minerals Ready Foundation, which I have discovered has been discontinued. I have yet to try the new alternative since the product lasts so long. I definitely recommend using the Precision Face Brush with it, since it feels like rubbing a hamster on your face (not that I’ve done that, honest!). Disclosure: I get nothing for these Bare Minerals recommendations, I just really like the products.
Oil Cleansing Method – I use organic sunflower oil, argan oil, and tea tree oil to remove my makeup every night. It is much cheaper and more efficient to make my own make up remover. It even removes waterproof mascara and eyeliner! The website linked above is the one I used when I started making my own face oils. I’d be happy to give you my formula if you’d like to send me a message, though.
Green People Shampoos and Conditioners – Until recently, I used Lush’s shampoo bars, which are brilliant for travelling since they can go in your hand luggage and last ages. However, they can be quite drying on the hair and the conditioners are less effective than others. I got some free samples of Green People’s Clarifying Vitamin Conditioner from Whole Foods, and it made my hair so so silky. They are a little pricey, but my hair is in such good condition now, even with London’s super hard water. I now have the Clarifying Vitamin Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner. Might add the Daily Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner to the collection soon. Disclosure: again, I get nothing for these Green People recommendations, I just love the products.
Bio-kult Probiotics – I started taking these last spring because I would get really bloated whenever I went to any event that might stress me out at all, and we had 7 weddings to attend that year. Almost as soon as I started taking them, I stopped getting bloated. I began by taking 3 a day, but now I’m down to 1 or 2 every couple of days. I think going sugar-free will help this situation too. I also think the probiotics might have made it easier to go sugar-free since they change your gut-bacteria. Disclosure: I get nothing from Biokult for these recommendations.
Vitamin B1 – I took 1 a day 3 weeks before going to Vietnam in December, and 1 a day while I was there. I had no mosquito bites at all. Usually I look like a twiglet after a holiday with all the bites on my legs. My boyfriend had a couple because he had been taking them a shorter time, and was less consistent with them. He was also taking a different brand because he didn’t like the taste of the ones I had. The theory, or old-wives tale, is that the yeast in Vitamin B1 gives off a scent that mosquitoes don’t like, the same as eating a lot of Marmite. Whether true or not, it worked for me. I would probably have to try it again in Italy to really determine how effective it really is, though. Perhaps Vietnam has fewer mosquitoes.
Jewellery – one last recommendation, which I totally get paid for, is my own Etsy shop that sells my handmade jewellery: cleamadethis.com
